Therapy with Jenna Timar is a place where you can finally set the weight down, be heard without judgment, and rediscover the grounded sense of self that's been there all along.
I'm Jenna Timar, a Licensed Professional Counselor based in Farmington Hills. I know that reaching out for therapy isn't easy — it takes courage to admit you could use support, and even more to find the right person to walk alongside you.
My practice is built on the belief that every person carries wisdom about their own life, even when stress, anxiety, or past experiences make it hard to hear. I don't believe in fixing people — I believe in creating a space where you feel safe enough to look honestly at what's been weighing on you, and strong enough to move forward differently.
Whether you're navigating a major life transition, struggling with anxiety or depression, processing trauma, or simply feeling stuck, I'll meet you where you are — without judgment, without rush, and with genuine care.
Every person is different, and therapy should be too. I offer individualized support tailored to your unique experiences, goals, and pace.
When your mind won't quiet down, life feels overwhelming. I help you understand what's driving your anxiety and build practical tools to feel calmer and more in control — not just in sessions, but in your everyday life.
Depression can make even small tasks feel impossible and colors everything in gray. Together, we'll gently explore what's underneath and work toward rebuilding a sense of hope, energy, and meaning — at your own pace.
Trauma changes the way your nervous system responds to the world. I provide a safe, grounded space to process past experiences and develop strategies to help you feel safer in your body and more present in your life.
Difficult relationships — with partners, family, or friends — can take a deep toll. I help you understand patterns, set healthier boundaries, and communicate in ways that honor both your needs and the relationship.
Career changes, grief, moving, becoming a parent — transitions can be exciting and terrifying at the same time. I walk alongside you as you navigate uncertainty and find your footing in this new chapter.
Sometimes you don't need to fix something broken — you just need space to understand yourself more deeply. I offer that space: curious, unhurried, and genuinely interested in who you are and who you're becoming.
I draw from several evidence-based approaches — including CBT, EMDR, and solution-focused therapy — but I never let the theory come before the person. You're not a diagnosis. You're a whole human being with a unique history, strengths, and goals.
Our first session is about getting to know each other. I'll ask questions, yes — but I also want to listen, to understand what brought you here, and to figure out together what therapy could look like for you. There's no right or wrong way to show up.
The greatest thing a human being ever does in this world is to see something. To see clearly is poetry, prophecy, and religion — all in one.— John Ruskin
Starting therapy can feel uncertain. Here are answers to some of the most common questions I hear.
Your first session is primarily about getting acquainted. We'll talk about what brought you to therapy, your background, and what you're hoping to get out of our work together. There's no pressure to have it all figured out — I'll ask questions, but I also want you to feel out whether this feels like a good fit. If it does, we'll start mapping out a plan. If not, that's okay too.
Please call the office at (248) 661-8500 to discuss insurance and payment options. I'm happy to work with you to find a path forward that works for your situation.
Yes — I offer both in-person sessions at my Farmington Hills office and secure telehealth sessions. Many clients find that telehealth offers the same depth of connection as in-person therapy, with the added convenience of joining from home. We can discuss which option feels right for you.
There's no one-size-fits-all answer. Some clients find relief in just a few sessions, while others prefer ongoing support through longer-term work. We'll check in regularly about your progress and goals, and the pace is always yours to set.
Absolutely. Confidentiality is a cornerstone of therapy. What you share stays between us, with very limited legal exceptions (such as imminent danger to yourself or others). We'll discuss this in detail during our first session so you know exactly what to expect.
More normal than you might think — and honestly, it's a sign that you're taking something meaningful seriously. It's completely okay to feel nervous, skeptical, or unsure. I've heard it all, and there's no judgment here. We'll go at your pace, and the first session is just about seeing if we're a good match.
You don't have to figure this out alone. Whether you have questions, want to schedule a consultation, or just need to know what to expect — I'm here. Reaching out is often the hardest part, and you've already done it by being here.
